The Mayor of Cleveland stated around 9PM Central that if the power was not restored to the city within 2 hours, the city's water supply would cease to function. This was stated to Ted Koppel on his news program tonight, and to the best of my knowledge, 5 hours later, the electricity is still out in Cleveland. The water system of this city serves over 1 million people. No backup generators exist to fill this breach in electricity supplies.

All my attempts tonight to obtain updates on the city's plight have come to nothing, as both of the city's major daily papers websites are essentially shut down by the blackout.
