Carol and Doug Petrie should not have been 'displaying' wild animals for their own selfish 'profit gain' in the first place. Fuck them! and fuck their profit making lifestyle! Let's hope they fucking suffer from their 'losses'. The animals suffered under 'their rule'.. Let's hope they (the abusers), find loving homes for the animals. Yes, I agree that it is about time that SOMETHING was done about the appalling conditions the animals live in, BUT what do you think will happen to the animals that live in the zoo? Most zoos will not want to take them on as they already have complete breeding groups, Safari Parks will not take them as them as they will not integrate into free roaming enclosures. The only option would be to humanely destroy them. Do we really want this? Why can't Pleasureland take over the complete running of the zoo and enlarge it? Then we could have a zoo to be proud of.

We do not want Southport zoo relocated in settle we will fight tooth and nail to stop them. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN.

I am very shocked to hear that a zoo I once worked in, owned and run by lovely people who were dedicated to the welfare and care of the animals and who were knowledgable and resposible in the keeping of these animals, have been subjected to intolerable persicution.
I have not been in touch for some time but I was aware that some misguided individuals thought they would help the 'poor animals' by campaigning to close the zoo. The money to feed, house and supply all the needs for those poor animals comes from the small admission fee charged to visitors. Had these misguided individuals ever worked with Doug & Carol Petrie as I have done, they would have known that the animals in their care were well fed, well cared for, well housed too, as much as possible in the space and environment, but also every 'little' animal there is respected and loved. These are people who have strived to help the survival of endangered species, who have had brilliant success with breeding programs, such as the mandrill Baboons, ( by the way animal lovers, not many animals will breed successfully when stressed and neglected). I am writing this as someone who totally believes in animal rights and have been a hunt saboteur and hates vivisection and detests any cruelty whatsoever. For Gods sake don't you understand that the people that you are pericuting love animals too? If things are not perfect at Southport Zoo, it's not because Doug & Carol Petrie can't be bothered, because they will be working on raising funds, creating more space, what ever need to be done. In the three years I worked there ( early eighties) I saw them improve the zoo for the good of the animals, build many new enclosures, lease more space from the council.
Why didn't all you animal lovers campagne to close the '*******' funfare so the zoo could grow and improve in peace.
