Expand "Buy Nothing Day" to "Buy Nothing Month(Christmas)"!

Buy Nothing Day, which is a campaign against the corporate hijacking of the Christmas season, should be expanded to "International Buy Nothing Month"!

While Buy Nothing Day the last few years has been successful in getting attention to the corporate hijacking of Christmas, it failed miserably as an anti-war action as it did nothing to prevent the British-backed U.S. invasion of Iraq that followed. Which means we must do much more to make an economic impact on the U.S./U.K. multinationals that help bankroll the continuing occupation and war in Iraq with tax dollars(and political contributions to the Bush junta). The Christmas sales season is by far the most important time for the U.S./U.K. retail multinationals. Roughly half of all revenues(aprox.) come at this time-which means this is when they are most vulnerable to international direct action!

A group of Canadian Mennonite have established a website for just this type of action:

http://www.buynothingchristmas.org/-which targets the ENTIRE Christmas buying season. By buying nothing (from U.S./U.K.) multinationals during this time-we can take the most effective direct action against the multinationals that contribute the most financing for this illegal occupation and war in Iraq.

Let's start organizing for International Buy Nothing Month(Nov. 28-Dec. 24, 2003 NOW!
