Not surprising

Well, its not surprising really. That's kind of what the building was designed for. It could make an excellent club except apparently the floors aren't strong enough to support large numbers of people. Doh!

Some thoughts...

The building won't make a great student union; it's got very few rooms and offices. But there's also the point that it was intended as a public building (albeit one you had to pay to enter), and as a student union, it won't be that.

Hallam Union is being effectively given it by Hallam University so that they can redevelop the present union site, apparently for the art department currently at Psalter Lane.

Students need to get in there form the start

pleased to hear that finally thre's a plausible destiny for NCPM. When we designed it, it corresponded t the brief set by the designers, but secretly I always wanted it to be used or something else. the ideal function has finally risen to the top. Success depends on two things - tuning in to the origial spirit of the building, and linkng the world of student life with the citezens at large.
