Fairford Tattoo Saboteurs

Anon | 31.07.2003 14:28 | Anti-militarism | Oxford

The war-propaganda fest which is Fairford Air Tattoo 2003 was damaged by the actions of unknown saboteurs.

We understand that attendance at this celebration of blood-soaked machines was considerably down on previous years. We can only hope that the vandalism seen here did not put people off or cause them to lose their way to this wonderful family day out admiring Weapons of Mass Destruction.

While one hesitates to condone vandalism and the inconvenience caused to sad middle aged men in anoraks and parents wishing to teach their children an appreciation of weapons of mass distruction one is able to sympathise to some extent with the convictions and youthful idealism that prompts people to take such actions.

While one hesitates to condone acts of vandalism and the inconvenience that it may have caused plane spotters and parents bringing their children to admire bombers and fighter planes one may sympathise with the commitment and youthful idealism that compel people to take such action.

I wouldn't hesitate to condone it. The more inconvienience to plane spotters and those promoting WMDs as family entertainment the better :-P

Well done guys - the best efforts to get the press to properly report on the environemental damage that this event causes have failed. Instead we have the unedifying spectical of the worst possible type of event being supported by tax payer money and then advertised by the BBC using our TV licence taxes.
