On 27 July, more than 100 activists from the noborder camp in Frassanito/Puglia, have peacefully invaded the "First Hospitality Centre" in Bari Palese. Some migrants managed to escape. In this jail we found tens of migrants detained only because they asked for asylum. Resisting to the policemen, comrades managed to talk with the migrants, hearing their stories, the desperation, their waiting and their will of freedom. In those moments some migrants managed to run away from the jail of Bari Palese. Since last June, 1200 asylum seekers have been detained. In the last two weeks, none of them could talk to lawyers. The sad and furious language of buerocracy does not choose to define it as a detention place. The invasion in the centre of Bari palese confirmed what the National Board of Migrants has always declared: The "detention centres" must be closed! We cannot accept that men and women who are crossing the borders to build a new life can be locked up in jails or caravans. That's why the struggle against the detention centres must go on during the next months. The struggle against the Bossi-Fini law must continue: This law considers the detention centres a fundamental point to control the migrant workers. And this struggle must reach concrete results. A man, after he jumped out of the centre, stopped his race and took a stone acting as if he was going to throw it. Then, he dropped it and kept on running away.
