Arriva Trains Northern Access Campaign

Chris | 23.07.2003 14:47 | Sheffield

In the last few weeks, Arriva Trains Northern has introduced a new policy, stating that passengers using motorised wheelchairs or scooters are not allowed on their trains.

A web site has just been set up to campaign against the ban on motorised wheelchairs on Arriva Northern trains:

 http://www.geocities.com/purplestar1uk/ArrivaCampaign.html

This site has this text on it:

This policy is outrageous. It blatantly discriminates against people with mobility difficulties and can cause people to become isolated if unable to travel.

Please take action. First of all, contact Arriva Trains Northern. You can call them on 0845 600 8008 if you have a disability, or 0870 603 2222 if you don't. You can also email them on  customer.relations@arrivatn.co.uk

I urge you to please contact them and express your disgust and disbelief at this discriminatory policy.

If you want to take further action, please contact your MP, Maria Eagle (Minister for Disabled People), the Department of Transport, and your local media.

Together we can fight this and win equal access for disabled people.
