The 2005 G8 Summit will be held in Britain.
This is not a rumour

The summits run on a cycle – each G7 country hosts every 7 years...

** 1998 Britian, Birmingham
Street Parties in around 40 cities across the globe,
including 4,000 people in Birmingham.
Jubilee 2000 – 70,000 people formed a Human Chain around
the Conference Centre.

** 1999 Germany, Köln
June 18th 1999 – Carnival against Capital
(10,000 people) in the City of London to coincide with
hundreds of actions, in over 30 countries on every continent.

** 2000 Japan, Military Base on Okinawa Island
11 mile human chain formed around the base – 27,000 people

** 2001 Italy, Genoa
Around 200,000 people converged on Genoa.
The protests were un-precedented in Europe.
So was the police response, which culminated in the killing of
Carlo Guliani and the violent raid on the Diaz school.
Hundreds of international demonstrations and actions
took place in aftermath of Genoa, to protest
against the police violence.

** 2002 Canada, Kananaskis
Thousands demonstrate in cities across Canada.

** 2003 France, Evian
Actions, blockades, conferences, debates and demonstrations
took place across the entire Lac Leman area.
People converged in several alternative protest villages
and took the streets.

** 2004 will be on Sea Island, Georgia, USA

** 2005 Britain (venue TBA)

** 2006 Russia will be entering the cycle,
when they join the WTO and become full blown members
of the G8, so from 2006 it will be once every 8 years.

** 2007 Germany etc, etc…

and the next G8 Summit to be held in the UK after 2005 will be 2013.
