Genocide is an over abused word. However, this is about 4.5 millions peoples out of 20 (more than 20% of the population) which are condemned to death by the social policies of the government (social democrat, by the way.) which gladfully applies the policies of the IMF. IMF and government are decided to exterminate those useless and unproductive peoples. Treatment the government inflicts upon them goes against the most basic human rights and qualifies as crime if judged by international standards (but nobody wants to pay attention).

Today the state has decided to confiscate the apartments they own and throw them in the street because of the debts they cannot pay. If this situation scandalizes you, please telephone or write to the nearest Romanian embassy or consulate. I have personally seen last winter a homeless elder dying in the winter in a metro station in Bucharest, in the general indifference.

Elders in Romania are condemned to live with CAD40/month while a member of the Parliament spends 1.3 million US each per year. Their pensions are taxed. Today their pensions are not enough to pay for water and heat for the little apartments they own, let aside food, telephone (what a luxury.) and medication. The mortality rate in Romania is higher that the one in WWII and in the last 10 years already more than 5 million peoples died while overall, the population downsized from 23 millions to 22. They are disconnected from electricity, gas and heat - imagine surviving over the winter.

In Romania, pensioners have to pay TV taxes even if they do not own a TV (even dead peoples have to - authentic !).

They are literally reduced to be beggars in the street, while recently, Focsani mayor counseled a bunch of elders to get themselves a job because they offer a disgracefully image of the country...

Elders are the generations that have rebuild Romania after war, the very same country the "business" and "political" elites are busy stealing since the '89 coup d'etat.
