I'm just curious, did your organization arrange for any protests when President Bashar al-Assad of Syria visited England last year?
Why protest against Assad? Well, let's see...
- According to Ottawa-Indymedia:
"Three Lebanese human rights organizations have appealed from Beirut for an international action to rescue many Lebanese allegedly held in Syrian jails, warning of family fears of potential MASS GRAVES in Syria similar to those recently discovered in post-Saddam Hussein Iraq. The call was voiced by The Lebanese Human Rights Organization, Solida-France and Solid for the Support of Imprisoned and Banished Lebanese.
- According to Human Rights Watch:
"In fact, the evidence of human rights abuse in Syria could not be more clear. The Syrian government must account for the horrors of the past, such as torture, extrajudicial executions and massacres,"
Hanny Megally, Exec. Director, Middle East/North Africa division/Human Rights Watch
- According to Human Rights Watch:
“The Syrian government has cracked down hard on advocates of political reform, human rights, and civil society. The EU must send a clear message that such actions are unacceptable and will have consequences.”
Lotte Leicht
Brussels director of Human Rights Watch
- How about the continued 'Occupation' of Lebanon by Syrian forces?
Syrian forces have occupied Lebanon since the country’s civil war began in 1975, and an estimated 35,000 Syrian soldiers remain stationed there. But for years now Lebanese religious and political leaders from across the political spectrum have been calling for the withdrawal of those troops.
The list of Syrian crimes against humanity goes on and on...but apparently that doesn't interest you.
If Castro came to London would you arrange a protest?
If Mugabe came to London would you arrange a protest?
If Bin Laden came to London would you arrange a protest?
And what about Yassar Arafat?
Even fellow Palestinians acknowledge that he has syphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Palestinian aid into his personal bank accounts. No one (including Edward Said) seriously disputes the fact that Arafat has been responsible for ordering and orchestrating international terrorist attacks that have killed hundreds of innocent people.
If, in fact, you can assure me that you would also mount protests against the above-mentioned 'criminals', then I will join your protest against Sharon.
If not, then you're just as bad as they are.

Anyway I think there shouldve been protests against the others, but thats the explaination. There should be a big jubilant protest arranged for when Castro finally dies.

just plain stupid ...

... mugabe DID come to london, I did protest, as did others - did you?;
... Bin Laden has no chance coming to london, protest or not - stupid question.
Aarafat wouldn't be allowed in either.
Your point is a variation of 'before you criticise us, first you must deal with every other bad thing that has ever been done by anyone else' - boring.
And just what would the Palestinian solidarity organisation be doing protesting against a south american regiem anyway?
You [probably] wouldn't protest sharon coming, going, singing or killing anyway would you?
Same old attempt to bend the notion of moral relativity until it breaks - why not just admit it - you don't care.
