Radio Sheffield Indymedia made its debut on Sheffield Live 106.6FM last night...

Indytastic!
Indytastic!

Tuesday evening, 7-8pm: Sheffield Indymedia's first live broadcast went out into the ether. With the website still new and shiny, a radio show is already up n running - this bodes well for the future.

We crammed a fair ol' amount into the one hour: If you'd been tuned into 106.6FM, you'd have heard such wonders as:

Dubya's (not entirely real) speech to congress ("... and I have a message for the people of Iraq - go home and die...)";

Discussion and speeches from the recent Menwith Hill Independence from America day, including a good ol' rant from Mark Thomas, and an interview in which he told us all why indymedia is so great (but you already know that, don't you?);

In-studio discussion of actions in Thessaloniki, the beginnings of Sheffield's Social Forum (and other stuff I've managed to forget coz I was too excited to listen properly...)

Great, passionate poetry from Saul Williams - from the Not Fit for the Whitehouse' series. (Check out the videos at the bottom of www.freespeech.org for more)

Various bits n bobs from adbusters...

And as many plugs for local events like Sharrow festival as possible...

A damn fine first show. We're on FM for another three weeks, same time, Tuesday 7-8, 106.6FM

If you want to get involved, e-mail the Sheffield IMC list at:
 imc-sheffield@lists.indymedia.org

We also have fortnightly meetings. The next one is at 6pm, this monday (14th) in the Drum.

Hopefully there'll be an MP3 of the show, but we managed to fluff recording the prog last night, so be patient while we look for another source...

Tune in next week folks...
