War Tattoo at RAF Fairford

Over the weekend of the 17th- 20th July, there will be an "air tattoo" held at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire .

There is expected to be a good deal of protesting about the event, given that the base was a major focal point for anti-war protests during the recent war - many of the bombs dropped on Iraq were dropped by Fairford planes. Peace campaigners are concerned that the event is being advertised as something of a family day out, and would like to those who are thinking of attending to remember that Fairford is not a theme park, or a nice spot for a picnic, but a place that houses weapons of mass destruction that have recently been used to kill civilians. Security is rumoured to be high on the day, and queues to get in are expected to be very lengthy. Those wishing to attend the event should be prepared for delays. Those wishing to register their objections to it have been contacting Waitrose supermarkets, and anywhere else locally that has been advertising the event. Anyone wishing to join the demonstration against the tattoo on the day should assemble in Fairford village at midday.
