Bush's Backyard Surprise, Houston, Texas

Keith Koskipaa | 07.07.2003 04:22 | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism | Social Struggles | World

A group by the name of "Bush's Backyard Surprise" passed out flyers at an Independence Day Celebration in Houston. The flyers provided information about the Patriot Acts. The Bush Administration ran the first of the Patriot Acts through Congress soon after September 11, 2001. The Patriot Acts severely limit our civil rights and jeopardize the safety and privacy of immigrants. This is second of many anti-bush events.

Why did we send this to the U.K? Two reasons come to mind. The first has to do with a statement by Arundati Roy that, paraphrased, the millions of people, who protested the actions of the george jr.'s unelected junta on February 15, 2003 are the "other superpower". Around the world, indymedia works very well within cities and regions so perhaps some good can be done by communicating with other regions. Something effective could very well result from an international exchange of ideas on various indymedia sites.
The second reason is to make the point that george jr. has no home base. We would like the world to know that people from his own back yard are working to remove him from office. Any ideas?
