Anti War Network & publicity

Paul | 06.07.2003 11:23 | Oxford

The Anti War Network is open for any group representative and individual to share ideas, advertise events, mutual assistance and support. It has no religious or political bias. It relies on people getting involved. There are stalls run by different groups every Saturday 12 - 2pm. Next meeting 15th July,7.30pm Friends Meeting House, 43 St Giles, Oxford

The stalls are a great opportunity to keep people informed about what is happening in Iraq and moved for attacks on other countries. Stalls tend to have themes which needn't be directly linked to the war. The last one promoted a boycott of CocaCola and offered samples of Meca Cola. Fair Trade was also publicised with samples of Fair Trade chocolate and cake. Had a great response. There are plans to have a stall encouraging a boycott of MacDonalds etc and suggesting alternative cafes. With so many tourists in town this can have a real impact.

All this depends on enough people getting involved. More people are needed. Many people have had good ideas for activities in Cornmarket on Saturdays but not many have done anything.

Get involved.
