ENTWOODS - new direct action site in NL

A new direct action site has been set up in the magical Entwoods in the south of the Netherlands.

What’s Happening?

A themepark in the south of the Netherlands, “De Efteling”, between the towns of Tilburg and Den Bosch, wants to expand. It used to be an eco-oriented, friendly park in the past, with lots of nice stories and myths. Now the park has caught the commerical fever. To sell more of their props and stuff, t-shirts and cd’s, they want to attract overnight and foreign visitors. So it’s time to build various fairystyle hotels with space for 3600 people. The hotels needs to be close by so why not chop down an ecologically rich forest area!?

A Story of Old

But some of the fairy people in the park were already getting fed up by being exploited, and this is the last straw. “And our friends are in that forest!”. They’ve left their old touristy homes and moved to the Entwoods nearby. Entwoods? Well, the story is, the trees are waking from their sleep. And they’re very, very pissed...
Of course your local friendly eco-activists got the word and are moving up into the trees. And they need your help. Come over and be weird in the woods. There’s ongoing guerilla theater in the park and a never ending story written in the forest. So write a chapter of your own.

Where is it?

The Efteling is near to the town of Kaatsheuvel and just west of the N261 road between Den Bosch and Tilburg in the south of the Netherlands. There’s regular bus services from Tilburg and Den Bosch trainstations. The Entwoods are right behind the theme park on the Eftelingsestraat. Go in there from the N261 and walk on till there's a villa on your left (Villa Pardoes). Take the next muddy path in to the woods.

Latest news

Today the mayor and deputees of Loon op Zand county will meet on the issue of the Entwoods protest site. Yesterday, the police did not insist that any criminal acts took place (they are even giving out our web adress to journalists...) and for the moment, the Efteling is not insisting for them to act either. Some men from the council did come by to ask questions about sanitation etc. The major can order the police to act when public security is under threat (although the land is private [it belongs to the Ents of course!]). Anyway, if the decision is negative it will be likely eviction will take place tomorrow morning. So come to the Entwoods quick!
