G8 Geneva: Anti-repression demo on friday night banned and dispersed

imcistas | 08.06.2003 14:15

Just a quick note to say that last friday there was a protest here in geneve organised by locals against the actions of the various police forces inc. the german and zurich riot police

The protest was banned that day and when 300 people turned up in the park they were advanced upon by riot police who formed lines and advanced into the crowd telling them to disperse - there is disgust here at this even in some of the press.

No freedom here.

If it wasn't for the solidarity and the support of the free swiss and french collectives we couldn't have achieved the level of resistance we did against the G8

there have been at least one action at the swiss embassy here in londonsince * though obviously we need to keep the pressure up in order to minimise the repression against our comrades who so supported us

hope to see you guys again when the Gang of Eight meet in the UK in 2005

unless of course we manage to make the world a better place in the meantime-

but if not there's a multitude of us up for showing them what democracy looks like

they are the few
ruling our world
the world of the many
