An exploratory study is begin done to determine if there are unique psychological attributes of people working for social change which differ from the general population.

An exploratory study is begin done to determine if there are unique psychological attributes of people working for social change which differ from the general population. Three measures are used, as shown below. The survey takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete; participation is voluntary and anonymous; no IP addresses or other personal information is logged. Results of the survey will be posted at a future time. Any partially filled out surveys will be disregarded; only complete surveys with every question answered (except for gender) will count.
Your gender (optional):

Male
Female

For each of the following pairs of questions,
choose the one that is most consistent with your view of the world.

Children get into trouble because their patents punish them too much.
The trouble with most children nowadays is that their parents are too easy with them.

Many of the unhappy things in people's lives are partly due to bad luck.
People's misfortunes result from the mistakes they make.

One major reason why we have wars is because people don't take enough interest in politics.
There will always be wars, no matter how hard people try to prevent them.

In the long run people get the respect they deserve in this world.
Unfortunately, an individual's worth often passes unrecognized no matter how hard he tries.

The idea that teachers are unfair to students is nonsense.
Most students don't realize the extent to which grades are influenced by chance.

Without the right breaks one cannot be an effective leader.
Capable people who fail to become leaders hive not taken advantage of their opportunities.

No matter how hard you try some people just don't like you.
People who can't get others to like them don't understand how to get along with others.

Heredity plays the major role in determining one's personality.
It is one's experiences in life which determine what they're like.

I have often found that what is going to happen will happen.
Trusting fate never turns out as well as making a decision to take a definite course of action.

In the case of the well-prepared student, there is rarely if ever such a thing as an unfair test.
Many times exam questions are so unrelated to course work that studying is really useless.

Becoming a success is a matter of hard work, luck has little or nothing to do with it.
Getting a good job depends mainly on being in the right place at the right time.

The average citizen can have an influence in government decisions.
The world is run by a few people in power, and there isnít much everyone else can do about it.

When I make plans, I am almost certain that I can make them work.
It is not wise to plan too far ahead because many things turn out to- be a matter of luck.

There are certain people who are just no good.
There is some good in everybody.

In my case getting what I want has little or nothing to do with luck.
Many times we might just as well decide what to do by flipping a coin.

Who gets to be the boss often depends on who was lucky enough to be in the right place first.
Getting people to do the right thing depends upon ability, luck has little to do with it.

Concerning world affairs, most of us are victims of forces we canít understand or control.
By taking an active part in political and social affairs the people can control world events.

Most people don't realize the extent to which their lives are controlled by chance events.
There really is no such thing as "luck."

One should always be willing to admit mistakes.
It is usually best to cover up one's mistakes.

It is hard to know whether or not a person really likes you.
How many friends you have depends upon how nice a person you are.

In the long run the bad things that happen to us are balanced by the good ones.
Most misfortunes are the result of lack of ability, ignorance, laziness, or all three.

With enough effort we can wipe out political corruption.
It is difficult for people to have much control over the things politicians do in office.

Sometimes I can't understand how teachers arrive at the grades they give.
There is a direct connection between how hard 1 study and the grades I get.

A good leader expects people to decide for themselves what they should do.
A good leader makes it clear to everybody what their jobs are.

Many times 1 feel that I have little influence over the things that happen to me.
It is impossible for me to believe that chance or luck plays an important role in my life.

It looks like...

05.06.2003 10:18

someone's trying to determine whether we of the activist community are nuts.
More seriously, the earlier questions seem to be slanted towards determining whether we are what Adorno would have called "authoritarian personalities" or else wet liberal types.
I find tests like this interesting on a wet Monday morning, but not very valuable.

NOT AN ACADEMIC STUDY

05.06.2003 10:19

Your responses will be sent to jobs.portlandpc.com (in the States).

You would expect an 'undergrad' to have an academic adress e.g. ac.uk or .edu for the states.

Undergraduate - if you want to use indymedia for your assignments, please respect some basic research groundrules.

- give your contact details
- explain what the study is for
- explain your methods
- explain what you want to find out

By posting your questionnaire without the above requirements,
you have:

- abused the open publishing platform of indymedia uk
- intruded into a discussion space
- violated the editorial guidelines of indymedia uk:

"The Independent Media Centre (Indymedia/IMC) UK is an open-publishing platform for news, issues, actions and analysis reporting on grassroots, non-corporate, non-commercial social justice, environmental and political issues." [ http://www.uk.indymedia.org/censor.php3]

I would like to ask the indymedia crew to hide this questionnaire. If no satisfactory information is provided until 5pm today, explaining why this questionnaire should be tolerated on imc uk, I am going to notify the appropriate editorial lists.

DO NOT FILL THIS IN

I was checking out some stories on some other IMC's and this was posted as a comment:

There are spelling errors in this personality test. Translation: It is not put together by a serious organization or individual.

The destination for your answers is a software and hardware consultancy:
"Portland PC Contractors ( Portland PC ) is a group of computer technicians in the Portland area that work together to provide a broad range of on-site services to the residential community in the greater Portland Metro area."

Why would someone at such an organization seeks this kind of information. Given their background, it is highly likely that they are very adept at tracking down IP information.

The website is registered as follows:
"Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
Kraemer, Nate (NK2047)  nate.kraemer@WREI.COM
Portland PC Contractors
151 S 25TH AVE
CORNELIUS, OR 97113-7155
US
503-846-9246
"

A search on the name Nate Kraemer comes up empty. This is VERY odd.

"Nate Kraemer" has an email address from a domain other than portlandpc.com. This other domain is WREI.COM

If you check out the webpage for  http://www.wrei.com you find that this website is for:
"Fog Cutter Capital Group Inc. is a Nasdaq-listed corporation which focuses on the acquisition of assets where its expertise in intensive asset management, mortgage and real estate credit analysis and financial structuring can create value.
"

You can't get more capitalist than that.

WREI.COM is registered to:
"Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
GENERICNETWORKS.COM (B6054-OR)  dave.hansen@wrei.com
PO Box 2665
PORTLAND, OR 97208-2665
US
503 721 6500 fax: 123 123 1234"

As you can see, Hansen is from www.genericnetworks.com.

www.genericnetworks.com is registered to:
"Administrative Contact, Technical Contact:
GENERICNETWORKS.COM (B6054-OR)  dave.hansen@wrei.com
PO Box 2665
PORTLAND, OR 97208-2665
US
503 721 6500 fax: 123 123 1234
"

Which is also Dave Hansen.

Genericnetworks.com maps back to www.fccgi.com which is another domain for wrei.com. Thus, the nexus of operations seems to be: www.fccgi.com

If you visit www.fccgi.com, and check out their management group:
 http://www.fccgi.com/company/management.asp

You will find interesting things such as:
"...Mr. Wiederhorn also serves as a director of CCKX Incorporated, a California based container rental company since 1994; a director and Executive Committee member of the Citizens Crime Commission of Portland Oregon, a community business based organization focused on the reduction of juvenile and adult crime, homeless youth..."
and
"Executive Board member of the Boy Scouts of America"
and
"Mr. Mathis was the Executive Director for the Portland Oregon Citizens Crime Commission"

Two of their small collection of officers are connected to the Portland Oregon Citizens Crime Commission at a very high level. Examination of the majority of names of the officers of this corporation make one suspect that they have Zionist leanings. Zionists have been targeting dissidents with smear, libel, and defamation campaigns containing false accusations of insanity.

DO NOT FILL IN THIS SURVEY!!!
