people must realise that the mass riot in geneva last night was not as the media has reported G8 protestors, but in fact was mostly people from geneva and the local area furious at the presence of the out of control german riot police in the city
we watched as all kinds of people, young youth, old folks, people walking dogs and people dressed up for an evening in town were attacked by the german riot cops
at one point a crowd of around two hundred locals and others were watching the german riot polcie as they water cannoned another crowd - standing behind their massed ranks and following them as they advanced
suddenly the german riot police turned around and fired concussion grenades and gas at this crowd of onlookers who scattered as the cops charged backwards!
and so it went cycle after cycle, each time the actions of the riot polcie making it worse and worse - soon and thousands had joined in the streets angry at these foreign riot police attacking them in their own city (quite often out on their own without swiss police escort)
it must have been realised that this was the cause and was inflaming the situation because they pulled out well before the end of the troubles, leaving the streets for some time to the people on the streets
and sure looting took place with many now having extra wardrobe items and things like flash new expensive handbags, but what i remember most was just how angry people were and how happy they were to stand next to people from out of town who had come here to protest against the G8

the swiss lost it as well including the stupid raiding of the geneve open imc / art space with riot polcie and loads of plain clothes dressed as black block types masked up
people remained calm and tried to control the situation, making sure that it did not get out of hand, and standing up to the cops
when the cops forced their way into the video room it was streamed live and the first things the cops confronted on entering the room was a big tv monitor showing their faces - while they smashed the monitor screen of the server thex did not get their hands on any of the video or other materials
those people who were arrested were soon released but contrary to swiss law were dumped / released out near the border

I'm no longer outraged by the utter contempt world imperialists show for citizens of the world. They are on this planet to loot and shoot. As long as they get theirs they don't care who they kill or maim to get it.
After being tear gassed in Quebec, along with every other citizen of that lovely city, even as they sat in their homes going about their business, I will never be able to think of a protest against the G8, the WTO, the FTAA, or anywhere they meet, as an act of violence. No-one goes there to commit violence, except for agent provocateurs.
It is the world's elite that are the violent ones. They continue to murder, plunder, and rape our planet. They hire their sadist police forces to protect their lying, greedy asses, provide their sentries with arms of mass destruction, then set them loose on peaceful people to ravage and destroy.
As for the weasels who sit back and critize protestors - the meek shall inherit the dirt.

The property damage caused by the US/UK war machine in Iraq and US backed Israel administration who destroy peoples homes in Palestine with bulldozers.
The Violence of a system which UN figures show that 6,000 children are dying each day because of a lack of clean drinking water. Violence of Cars polluting the air for ourselves and our children Asthma is increasing massively.
The violence of a system which concentrates wealth in the hands of a few and ignores the death toll of those who have to live without working rights because our administration backs dictators.
S few properties at a protest are damaged so what!
