Some locals joined the demonstrations, despite the climate of terror cultivated by mainstream media in the previous weeks, and many came out on their balconies to cheer at the demonstrators or simply observe the marches. Participants have estimated that the march was between 3000 and 6000 strong and the atmosphere was very inspiring. While the police presence was quite significant there were no confrontations. Some surveilance cameras were disabled.

The march organized by the anti-racism initiative, and supported by many left wing organizations was also very successful. The march had up to 10,000 people in different blocks, chanting their respective slogans. Props were present, such as barbed wire cages, in order to highlight the absurdity and racism of immigration legislations.
