Man killed for being 'unamerican'

ser | 17.06.2003 16:01

Man shot dead for being 'anti-american' and 'anti-war'.

Just got this off nyc indymedia;

take a look at the link.

"My name is Ron Mellor," he began the call. "I live at 931 North J
Street. I just shot a man."

When a dispatcher asked why, he responded, "Because he was very
anti ... very ... very anti-American and he was very against the war."

Only doing what a large portion of the US wants to do

17.06.2003 18:37

From the reactions I've seen to anti-war protestors here in the States I would say that this guy Mellor (the killer) just realized the fantasy of a large portion of the US. The hatred that comes forth for anything that can in anyway be viewed as "anti-american" is truly scary.

And I see the guys lawyer is one of the 75% or so of yanks who believe that Iraq was at fault for 9/11:

"I think he was overcome by emotion at the time regarding our troops in Iraq," said Randy Berman, Mellor's attorney. "When you talk about it in relation to the terror attack of 9-11, you're talking about exacerbation of those emotions."

Unamericanism

19.06.2003 10:27

The concept of Unamericanism started during the period of American history loosely called McCarthyism, but it has survived down to the present. Indeed the hysteria of that time has a lot in common with today's atmosphere - for example, in the early 1950s at least one US state legislature discussed the issue of imposing the death penalty on Communist Party members.
Killing people to enforce political conformity is what America's foes do, of course. It could never happen in the good old USA.
