personal account from the first days at the intergalactic village...annemasse france

boards, boards, boards..... the shops in geneva take cover...a city under seige?...we hear that the airport is a militarized zone; we see mcdonalds operating from a side door::::geneva is tense:::apparently its our fault...the anti capitalists....its convienient for them; they lock themselves behind a big fence then they promote fear across the population
the border guards let everyone through...then check our passports ..waiting waiting.. they question us and then we move on
we hitch with a local women supportive but worried about the violence...
we arrive at the camp at dusk many people are arriving...the ...vaarg...intergalatic village...biozone...
theres a concert ....with music and dancing...meeting up with people from around europe and further...the event is a welcome to the camp and the local community has been invited...people are trying hard to interact with the local community...its good, of course we are not seperate but too often we are made out to be..
the feeling is good around the camp...
in the morning we get more of a feeling for the camp...the 'barrios seem to be working..different areas eating and meeting.... our fear of divisions arent realised ...with, meetings involving all the groups spring up::for my first day its going well...many action plans arising and communication filtering in from laussane and geneva...
the logistics set up in the village are great...big tents for events, organic kitchens, indymedia tent with 10 computers, toilets, even a shower
tomorrow is a no borders demonstration
today checkin out the camp and a small friendly samba demonstration:festive event to meet the people in annemasse...
coming from australia its inspiring how many people know about woomera..the actions therremian an inspiration....
