Start of the "No Border" demonstration (Geneva) 11:45 AM
From Barcelona without control
Free train for Geneva 10:40 AM

30 May:

Start of the "No Border" demonstration (Geneva) 11:45 AM

The "No Border" demonstration just started to move from the "Palais Wilson" (old headquarters of the League of Nations). The demonstration is unauthorized but not a cop in sight, just the usual helicopters turning around. The plan is to go to the headquarter of the WTO (World Trade Organization). This demo just fused with people from Annemasses (about a hundred that came by train) singing Trust's "Anti-social" song. A big moment. The sun is shining but it's not too hot. The demonstration is a happy > colored with some flags : 2 or 3 black, 3 red and black, one that has > written on it, another one from Rifondazione comunista. A lot of advice in French and English has been given to the demonstrators ... you never know. An exotic note : some balaclavas, although everyone must know that they are strictly prohibited in demos in Switzerland (Pedro) (see :  http://mediaplan.ovh.net/~dissiden/spip/article.php3?id_article=523 and  http://mediaplan.ovh.net/~dissiden/spip/article.php3?id_article=509).

From Barcelona without control : Finally at around 11 AM the 3 Barcelona buses arrived at the intergalactic village, no more control as previously mentioned. Furthermore it is quit a long time zone : from 10 PM to 11 AM for about 600 Km .... you have to realize that they only have one driver and when the clock rings up 8 hours, he must stop and rest for four hours...it's crazy but that allowed the travel price to be fixed at 50 Euros .... (Manuel)

Free train for Geneva 10:40 AM - After long negotiations, a train just left Annemasse toward Geneva. Inside, about a hundred demonstrators. Few people paid the fare. Knowing that a "welcome team" might be waiting at the Geneva train station, we stopped the train hundreds meters before the station (leaving the train cops) and start a little walk around the city. We don't quite know where we are (ah yes, avenue Picket de Rouchemeont), nor where we are going but we will find out soon. And if we get lost, we can always ask our way of the helicopters that circle overhead. Stay tuned ... (Jacques)
