nice summary of the events in Lauzanne and Geneva (translated from Paris indymedia http://paris.indymedia.org/article.php3?id_article=3339 )
In Geneva : About 700 to 800 people took part in a quiet demonstration lead by a Samba group. Some stones were flying followed by tear gas but nothing serious. The press coverage was much too exagerated (30-50 journalists). Everyone then walk toward the speech (journalists are you still here ?) (news to be confirmed).
In Lausanne : appart from fireworks we have :

*news from Fred and Ludo for Samizdat (Plus Cecile and Germinal) :
=============================================
5000 people are right now meeting for the demonstration "mur de la honte" (wall of shame) at the border of the red Zone. A taste of Genes with its barbed wires and containers. Young demonstration but test demo too since it will be the first contact with the Swiss cops ..
the mixt SO are wearing white Tshirts with "poulette" (female chicken) written on top and the highjack logo of the police. Leading the demo, like in Genes, 8 masked figures are wearing banners like "Restez a la maison nous travaillons pour vous" (stay at home we are working for you) "Evian, parce que je le vaud bien" (Evian, because I'm worthit); "G8. Touche, coule" ...
2 army guys are partolling on each of the bridges from Lausanne to Geneva.
==============================================
Pink and Silver bloc in Lausanne.
6 PM : Carnaval against capitalism, the demonstration Pink and Silver strarted in Lausanne. It must be around 500 people for the moment. A lot of red and black flags, caricatures of the G8 leaders and humoristic banners. The people in charge of the order are wearing T-shirts with Lausanne police but written "Poulette" on it.
6:30 PM : now thousands of people. When we left it started raining. There are people without papers, Kurdes and Palestiniens. Leading Banner : " against the summit of injustic". Other banners against the war, rainbow flags too.

Place du Chaudron city center : meeting between some excited fellows and anti-demo swiss cops infront of a bank. It was stopped very quick There are now a hundred polices there and the demo continue. Big detail : couple of cameras jumped on what witness called a " non-event". It's 7:30, just on time for the news at 8 PM....

=============================================
Place de la Ripone, quiet ending of a demonstration in music, percussion .... A good amount of the demonstrators went back to their homes.
8 Pm : TF1 (-french TV channel-) didn't have time to show the images of the mini-incident infront of the bank but instead have a simple report on the german ATTAC train. France 2 (-an other french TV-) goes in the sensationnal news with images of nervous cops then they had a stupid and horrible report on black block. Just a citation of the journalist : "they dress up in black so no one can recognized them" ...
