Lausanne Anti-G8

Latest update on Lausanne anti-G8

Pink Silver conducted a pre-emtive strike against the G8. After several days of preparation at the autonomous village, we marched into town, with samba blaring and the colours pink and silver blazing to the bemusement and active support of most of the Weds shoppers in town. We aimed to show the people of Lausanne that we aren't here to terrorise them, but to that we despise the illegitimate reign of the G-Hate, and will resist with creative actions. Parodies of the summit took place along the route, and we joined a 'sans papiers' demonstration against a policy of deportation of refugee families that both the 'left' and the 'right' in parliament apparentltly support.

The situation here in Lausanne seems relaxed, with none of the promised repression of political activities taking place. Talk of massive repression seems (so far at least,) premature. In the next few days activists will turn up and start planning for the blockades on the 1st, 2nd and third of June, so that we can stop the G8 and their gang of Mafia bosses meeting in peace.

Although the situation in Lasaunne is very promising, it seems that more activists, and strong affinity groups will be needed to conduct a proper blockade of the G8 on their way to Evian, through the port at Lausanne. There will be space for all to demonstrate by the looks of early preparations, but people are needed to make an input and make this happen.

The villages in Annemasse (Intergalactic/VAAG) have a very positive vibe and are are functioning well, but room to manuevre in terms of strategy and tactics for the blockades does seem limited; if you want to be involved in strategically creative and autonomous actions, come to Lausanne and become part of that local manifestation against their Lordships, the G8.
