Russian Anarchist Newspaper Editor targeted

Russian radical magazine editor has flat searched and computer confiscated by masked, armed FSB.

According to the Russian site: http://avtonom.hypermart.net/ on the 20th of May 2003 in Krasnoyarsk, police swooped on a flat belongoing to the editor of a local Russian radical left maganize "AVTONOM". His flat was searched, items seized by police include: his computer, photographs and anarchist leaflets. Criminal proceedings against the editor have begun, which claims to have no connection with any investigation into the activities of the similarly named direct action anarchist group "Autonomous Action". This coincides with the continuing problems faced by the website avtonom.net and comes just 6 days after the FSB's court case against members of NRA ( New Revolutionary Alternative) accused of planting bombs in Moscow. This accusation caused serious concern among Human Rights NGOs in Russia, as "anti-terrorist" legislation is widened in implication to include any members of society the authorities consider "inconvenient". Is this the start of renewed repression of Russian radicals? This is not the first time such action has been taken against members of our groups. If the Government continues with this, we shall
organise protest actions.
