Why we simply must get tough on asylum seekers!

Realist | 21.05.2003 09:30

The UK is simply far too overcrowded already for a start and more and more asylum seekers coming means more roads, more houses, more sewage works, more power stations more landfill sites for rubbish, more pollution all taking up valuable countryside and wreckig the environment!

On one hand environmental activists like Earth First want and end to major road building and the destruction of our countryside while on the other many of these very same activists want to allow more asylum seekers in. Well we can't have both we can't save our environment from destruction under a sea of houses and roads etc and have a mass influx of foreign migrants! BEING AGAINST THE FLOOD OF FOREIGN MIGRANTS IS NOT RACIST IT IS COMMON SENSE!

There is no flood!

Get a grip. Don't get spoon-fed by the Daily Mail, fool. As it goes, I've just been phoning round to try to get a roof for the night for an Iraqi Kurdish guy who spent the past two nights sleeping in the street.

Is sleeping rough in the wind and rain "tough" enough for you, or would you like regular patrols to wander round beating people with rubber truncheons?

We obliterate these people's infrastructure from the face of the Earth, deprive them of food, water, medical care and electricity, the basics of life and then leave them in the hands of marauding bandits and lawless troops in lands littered with unexploded mines and munitions, seeped in depleted uranium. They come here for asylum and we call them terrorists and incarcerate them. We accuse them of creating every ill in our society, including disease and environmental destruction!

What planet are you living on?

If we spent less on the bombs that are making them refugees in the first place by destroying THEIR environment and more on developing their countries or attending to domestic policy, this situation would never have arisen. Housing that was once available for all the working classes and underprivileged (serfs) were sold off to private property developing racketeers. Foreigners are not the problem, it’s the ignorant bigots buying into tabloid propaganda who are a real danger.

"freedom of speech"

21.05.2003 11:23

"The 'press freedom' that was fought for in previous centuries...is not the freedom of large corporations to be involved in the industrialised production of racism for profit. The racist coverage of asylum seekers in the press is a failure of democracy, not its flourishing. When every problem of the day- SARS, house prices or even, as one newspaper reported, the declining number of swans on the River Lea- can be blamed on a relaitively small number of outsiders, then genuine democratic debate has collapsed. Hate can never be compatible with democracy because hate destroys everything but itself. And in the poisinpus atmosphere created by the right-wing press, only other pseudo-democrats (like the BNP. ) can prosper."
