On 18th of Mai 2003 on the square Marsovo pole in Sankt-Petersburg an antiglobalists demo has been smashed and dispersed by police. The aim of the demo was to protest against the capitalist globalisation in general and against the presence of the leaders of the agressor states (Bush & Putin) at the celebrations towards the 300th anniversary of Sankt-Petersburg.
About 50 protestors have been detained, among them the deputy of the regional legislative senate W.Leonow, as well as representatives of the communist party E.Kozlow and W.Solovejchik.
The arrested are still being kept in the police station Nr. 79 of S-P, without seeing a lawyer, and it’s been reported, that they’ll stay in custody for two more weeks.
In the meanwhile the meeting of the regional legislative senate had to be cancelled, because W.Leonow is still under arrest.
