Byers Admits

The government's policy of liberalising trade and removing protectionist measures such as subsidies and tariffs is dangerous for millions in the developing world, the former trade and industry secretary Stephen Byers says.

A bit dull

So, countries like Argentina which libralize their markets to global capital become poor, and those like Japan which protect their markets become rich.

It would have been more interesting had he written about what happened when he told his friend Tony about this discovery, rather than telling Guardian readers what they already know.
