Three more Palestinians killed today…five yesterday
15 May 2003

In today’s invasion on the Beit Hanoun neighborhood in the northern part of
Gaza, three Palestinians were killed. Muhammad Zaanen, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy was shot in the head. He was left unassisted to bleed for three hours since Israeli troops prevented paramedics from reaching the scene. After some negotiations, he was eventually transported away by an ambulance. However, Muhammad died on his way to the hospital. The other two were Nedal Karim, twenty-two years old, who was shot in the chest and Khalil Qarmot, thirty-three years old, who was shot in the abdomen.

Witnesses described the incursion as one of the largest operations in recent months.

In addition to today’s killings, five other Palestinians were killed yesterday. Three policemen and a child were killed in Gaza and one Palestinian killed in Nablus.

This new escalation from the Israeli side is paving the road for the destruction of all recent international peace efforts. As it happens countless times before, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's brutal policies consists in attempts to provoke Palestinians to react, so he is set able to play the card of Israel as a ‘victim’. The current timing of such rationale is also unmistakable since Arial Sharon will soon convene with US President George Bush.
