Indymedia San Francisco is back on GoogleNews, but may not be so for long if the warmongers have their way.
Google News has reinstated San Francisco Indymedia on its list of news sources. Right-wing warmongers are furious about this, and are calling for a mass campaign to force SF Indymedia back off the list.
Indymedia activists and friends are urged to write to Google in support of the reinstatement, and to work towards ensuring that those newswire items which give Indymedia a bad name ("Zionazis..." etc) get removed before they end up in the RSS feed.
The following are some contact details for Google:

It's about NEWS vs unreliable, uninformed opinion.
Until IMC has standards, an editorial policy, stops recycling badly sourced, often completely false material and letting everyone post with little or no moderation... it's clearly not a news source.
If Google starts a blog/message board/opinion source section, IMC can be listed there.

Most Indimedia types follow sources such as the Electronic Intifada and Electronic Iraq. Many use their articles as a cut and paste source. As such, they are also subject to edit without including a source. This is called plagiarism.
Plagiarized articles have no buisness in the search engine of Google.

If you go to news.google.com and press the directory tab, you're not in news.google.com any more. You're in the Google DIRECTORY, OK?
So, once again, IMC is still not indexed as a news source on news.google.com.

The claim that Indy is no longer indexed is simply heresay. I have seen no compelling proof of this despite all of the blustering. Indy rarely shows up on google anyways, twice that I have seen as a regular user, so no big loss.
Finally, google DOES still list front page articles from Fox, CNN, Voice of America, and Rush Limbaugh among others. Since these are clearly not examples of credible journalism, google would only be undermining their own credibility by including them, while excluding the far superior news and information offered by Indy.

1) Check the news source page on news.google.com. No Indymedia (no Rush Limbaugh either - like I said it was not a political decision, it was based on the standard of the sources, IMC lost on that one)
2) Search news.google.com (without sneaking off to another part of the google network). You may get some old SF Indymedia posts from 3rd May or so, before IMC was removed... since then, nothing.
3) Look for the emails circulating around cyberspace concerning this issue. The person who complained received an email confirming IMC had been delisted.
There you go - this is now the most substantiated post ever to hit the IMC network.

Good effort googler, but your proof falls short. If I can't find any recent Indy articles on the google news site, that could simply be because their "algorythm" (wink-wink) hasn't selected any recent articles. As I said before, Indy rarely shows up on google. You blew it by claiming that Limbaugh is not indexed by google, since I saw a Limbaugh article there only weeks ago.
If you believe e-mails that are posted on the web, then here's one for you:

What's the big deal about not being listed as a news site by Google? Let me list the pros and cons as I see them.
1. IMC DOES have news stories
2. IMC DOES NOT have an editorial board, or any of the other journalistic checks and balances a legitimate NEWS SOURCE should have. For this same reason, right-wing sites like LGF and Instapundit are not listed as news sources.
That's really all that matters, folks. It's a simple equation; Think of it this way; if IMC got listed as a news source by Google, then in the spirit of fairness, a large number of right wing sites would be as well. So if IMC got listed, it'd be right along side LGF and Rightwingnews.com in the listing. Why? Because those sights get a LOT of hits.
So count your blessings, understand the simple reasons behind the Google decision, and go about your days.
