The Big Issue request for interviews on anti-globalisation

Charles Howgego | 14.05.2003 14:00

We are doing an article shortly on the anti-globalisation movement and would like to hear from anyone willing to give an interview about the movement. Particularly those who have been active in the movement over the past few years.

The article will be appearing in the late summer. We hope to do a big two page spread on the anti-globalisation movement. As you will already know we published a book called Gathering Force a few years ago about the protest movement and have covered many protests over the years.

Whatever happened to anti-capitalism?

Whenever there is a large demo against an international conference the protesters are usually described as anti-globalisation protestors. Is this a deliberate ploy on the part of the media or the authorities to shift the emphasis away from capitalism? Or am i just being paranoid? Anyone else noted this phenomenon and does it matter?

Miss Point

yeah it does matter

No, dats true. It's like the BBC pronouncing Saddam's name differently to make it sound SaTAnic.

Also the media call him Saddam as opposed to mr. Hussein, it's a form of putdown - you wouldn't see them report a Bush speech by writing, "George said..."
