The Ghosts of the Dead

The Ghosts of the Dead haunted Labour MP Barbara Follett to protest about her support of the invasion of Iraq. (article 1)

FOLLET M.P. HAUNTED BY WAR DEAD.

Protestors dressed as ghosts of the victims of the war in Iraq “haunted” Barbara Follets M.P. surgery in Stevenage, Herts today. Barbara Follet angered local anti war protestors by changing her stance from anti to pro war in the final stages in the lead up to the war. Spokesperson, Dan Green said “We are here today to demand that Barbara Follett publicly apologises for her support of the invasion of Iraq which killed Iraqi and British people. The reasons given for the invasion of Iraq were false. We were lied to.” The protestors were dressed in ghostly white with masks made from photos of the victims of the war. They carried placards calling for the US to respect international law and for the UN to be the only acceptable weapons inspectors in Iraq.
Dolls covered in blood were laid outside the office along with flowers in remembrance of the victims of war.
The group calling itself “The Ghosts of the Dead” are made up of people from the local area that want to continue the campaign against the invasion of Iraq. They are planning to hold other actions and hope that other groups will start up across the country to “haunt” pro-war M.P.s.

The Ghosts Of The Dead.
· We demand the retraction of all support given to the war against Iraq.
· We demand that the US and UK pay compensation for damage caused by sanctions and the war.
· We demand an end to American aggression globally.
· We demand that the U.S. sign up to and implement international agreements on human rights, international law and on the proliferation of armaments including nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
· We demand a full declaration of all the weapons used during the war by the UK and US, and an investigation into the effects of depleted uranium on British troops and Iraqi civilians.
· We demand that the U.K. use its influence to persuade the U.S. to comply with international law and recognise the international criminal court.
· We demand the withdrawal of the US and UK military from Iraq.
· We demand the use of UN weapons inspectors and no others and will not accept any other findings.
· We demand the full and unhindered participation of the UN and the Iraqi people and no others in the foundation of the new Iraq.

The justification for war was based on falsified evidence.
Thousands died and are still dying as a consequence.

Iraqi people are being shot for demonstrating. US forces have killed journalists. Children are being held in unauthorised prison camps. 50 US tanks have guarded the massive oil ministry in Bagdad whilst hospitals have been looted. The US has plans for four military bases in Iraq. The US and Israel are the only countries to oppose the UN ban on biological weapons and weapons in space. American companies that are intimately connected to the US government have been awarded massive contracts without open bidding.
This was not a war of liberation or defence. This is an invasion for the benefit of a small American elite.
Words alone do not convey our fury.
The Ghosts of the Dead will forever haunt the murderers that made this unjustified slaughter possible.
