Time to chuck some eggs at the Blairites?

Re: the Galloway egg throwing. We can chuck eggs too!

OK, if they want an egg chucking war, they will get one. Two can play THAT game. Everyone to the barricades! Watch out Blairistas!

By the way, I am informed by an eye witmess that STONES were thrown at Galloway at a rally n Birkenhead Park, Merseyside, yesterday--apparently by NF/BNP types.

I tend to think that ketchup or red paint--representing blood--is probably better than eggs.

Not sure about stones

I was there inches away when the thug and his son reached into their pockets and hurled the eggs at George they also shouted abuse, I didn't see any stones, not saying there weren't - any as they were immediately surrounded by angry people wanting to give them a good going over, they would have if the Police hadn't of intervined and arrested them.

I just can't believe the nerve of them, they waited like everyone else and clapped and cheered to the other speakers until George came on, total shock. Later I had the chance to meet George again after he was interviewed by the media and he remembered me from St Georges Hall a few weeks ago and I thought that was cool considering the amount of people he must meet everyday travelling up and down the country, he is a real gent. I apologised for the incident and told him that it reflected badly on Wallasey.

Apparently the thugs were released without charge at 7pm last night, which is disguting, just say the same thing would have happened to a Pro-War MP by an Anti-War protestor, I'm sure charges would have been brought.

Btw, it was Central Park in Wallasey, neighbouring town to Birkenhead.

I dislike the Blairs and Bushes of this world but egg throwing? Are you not capable of formulating an articulate attack on the politicians that you disagree with? Don't you think it would be more productive to do a little research on the topics that bother you and do some thinking...and write about what you think, or talk it over with your friends...

Throwing stuff at politicians is plain silly. It achieves nothing positive. All it does is give the real left and any dissenters a bad name.

Do it if you want...but if you hope to achieve something, throwing eggs isn't going to do it.

Yes, yes yes

Why can't we don't both, "Liberty"? They are not counterposed. It is necessary to be graphical as well as literate. A picture (e.g. of a ketchup drenched Blairite warmonger) is worth a thousand words.

Or to look at it another way, it is a form of street theatre.

It was one stone and two eggs

Further inquiries with a second eye-witness, a long time LIverpool trades unionist who was standing about 8 feet away from the stone/egg throwers, yields the following information. An egg-sized grey STONE was thrown, first, by the older of the two throwers, a man about 40 years old. This was followed by two eggs thrown by a youth around 16 years old. This eye-witness saw what happened very clearly and is absolutely certain about this information.

One rule for them, one rule for us...

I remember a case from Mayday 2000 when someone chucked an empty plastic water bottle at a riot cop and went to prison for it! Yet people who chuck stones/eggs at a middle aged man, not wearing protective riot gear, get released without charge!

Operation Pie

I would like to propose a widespread and long-lasting pieing campaign aimed at blair and his cronies. Wherever Blair goes he should be covered in custard pies. And to those who say that this kind of thing does no good, ask yourself how easy it is to command the respect of the electorate, and the rest of the world, when your covered from head to toe in custard pies every time you appear in public.

Really guys!

Hi Mutley. The two are mutually exclusive. All dissenters are tarnished with the same brush by the right. If people take the immature, ignorant and uncomplicated step of throwing stuff at politicians rather than formulating coherent and knowledgable opinions in opposition, then people will assume that you - and other lefties - are incapable of engaging with politics.

Also, throwing stuff does no good for democracy. People need to be presented with options and opinions and knowledge, not an politician, egg and ketchup sandwich. They need to understand what it is people object to and be in a position to make their own mind up. Throwing stuff alienates a lot of people and does nothing to help poeple understand or know something more about politics.

One of the things I really hate about the Blairs and Bushes of this world is their 'don't do as we do, do as we say' mentality. If you believe that people have the right to express their opinions and to go about the streets unmolested, then can you not see that throwing things at people because of their opinions acts against those things? Much as I hate the things I hear from Bush and Blair and most of the politicians in this country, they have the right to hold and express whatever opinion they choose, and they should not fear personal attack.

Really, its not big or clever to throw eggs and politicians and it really is not productive.
