BAe Systems AGM

Anyone got any pictures they'd like to upload?

Just thought I'd do a brief post about the BAe Systems shareholders AGM.

It went right fucking off it did. About 2/3 of the questions were from activists. We must have number about 100 - normal shareholders were probably about 1,000. Lots of people heckled the board members and called them murderers etc. Quite a few people were carried out by security because they wouldn't stop shouting.

Protesters had a presence outside as well although it would have been nice if there were more people there with more banners and stuff.

Wicked, good stuff.

Shareholder activism is really taking off. All you need is a single share in the company you're protesting against and you get to go to the meeting.

People are doing this kind of activism with shell and bp and all sorts of big bad corporations.

At BAe AGM we definitely made our presence felt throughout the entire meeting - which ended with a lot of shouting, denouncing them all as having blood on their hands.

And it's great that people were prepared to get kicked out.

But I think there's definitely scope for even more (non-violent of course) disobedience. The possibilities are endless.
