MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
28th April 2003
PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE AGAINST THE ARMS TRADE
Mayday solidarity actions began in the early hours of this morning with a pre-emptive strike against the arms trade in Central London.
“The Hatton”, home of SMi defence conferences, was daubed in high quality red paint and “Dealers in Death” was sprayed on the window.
A spokesperson for the group said “This is the beginning of a series of protests against this trade in death and destruction. Arms companies are multinationals that operate above the law but we will make them accountable.”
Notes for Editors:
1. Mayday solidarity actions are taking place all week up until Mayday. See www.ourmayday.org.uk for details.
2. SMi hold regular defence conferences at “The Hatton”, Hatton Gardens, Faringdon. From 28th-29th April they are hosting the “Dismounted Close Combat” conference. See www.smi-online.co.uk
