yeah what a gr8 idea,
go and smash some burger bar windows and terrify
the young teenage staff to death and the kids that
are inside.
a great big slab of concrete through the window that`ll
show blair and boys not to mess around with scruffy
dope smoking students.
get a life and get a job.

Alternatively Brian.

you could die of heart disease from eating McCrap whilst contributing to the vast and unethical profits of said company whilst smiling through the bits of gristle at the exploited underpaid teenagers who work for McDonalds.
But thats alright now, isn't it?

Oh Brian...

23.04.2003 18:12

Oh Brian isn't that "get a job" thing a bit dated? Do you mean get a job in McDonald's for a minimum wage, selling junk that destroys the health of the people eating it, wrapped in junk that destroys our environment?
Also: "gr8"? This is not a text message forum...get a life and learn to spell!

STINK

The other Brian is obviously a wanker - I hope he dies from his diet of McOffal.

For myself, the tradition of destroying McDonalds is well established in France - Millau, St Jean de Luz, Grenoble - all pure anti-globalist protests, and all worthwhile.

What is needed is an education campaign to warn people to stay out of McDs on May 1st, and to encourage the poor bastards who work there to take the day off. That way, it's only the property that suffers, which is OK by me.

There'll be a burnt McDs up here in the North on May 1st - it's a newish drive-through, and a prime target for torching.

McPig!

23.04.2003 21:57

I have been struggling with the chioce of words recently pissing white people off with white pig etc.

Suddenly I got solution.

I shall call the consuming white pigs who are the cause of our dear planet's destruction and direct threat for peaceful co-existence ....McPig (TM)

So if I write McPig please translate it to white pig.

Thank you for you patience.

I hate McPigs!!

Not so stupid...

23.04.2003 22:07

The likelihood is that many, if not all, of those outlets listed will have to close for that day -- to be on the safe side. This costs the company money in lost revenue and in putting up protective barricades.

Maybe all that has been achieved through nothing more violent posting an e-mail that sounds a bit threatening...

Isn’t it ironic, though, with all the worldwide anti-McD sentiment, that it’s not as much a question of people boycotting the place for ethical reasons that’s causing them to start closing down, so much as the whole concept now being seen as somewhat tired & outdated?

And PC Ram, to pick some nits, it’s not the McD.eating-white pigs who cause our dear planet’s destruction, it’s actually down to the farting cows they consume. If you could only train them to graze with bumcheeks clenched perhaps McD’s could be repackaged as “environmentally friendly”

Wear a jumper it'll be cold now

24.04.2003 08:24

Yeah woo change the world by standing outside McDonalds on a cold afternoon. The world is quivering.. perhaps you should understand the people who work at McDonalds use McDonalds do so because THEY WANT TO. Why the hell should you stop people from going about their business? What the fuck makes you so special that you think you have the right to stop people from doing what they want to do?

Michael

'What the fuck makes you so special that you think you have the right to stop people from doing what they want to do? '

we live in something called a society...

my definition of a society is that people should be free to do whatever they like as long as it doesn't unnecessarily harm someone else..

for example if someone wants to kill someone or beat someone up then we should do what we can to stop them. equally if someone wants to buy the cooked carcass of a creature that has lived a miserable, tortured life, we should do what we can to stop them. if someone wants to buy clothes which have been made in horrific conditions by people who only have to suffer these conditions because they happen to live in a certain part of the world, we should try and stop them.

just because a crime makes money for big business doesn't amke it any less of a crime. and the fact that we live in a relatively free country makes our responsibility greater cos we can protest about it....

Sympathy please

24.04.2003 12:26

Please don't smash up the Fleet St branch as it's the nearest to me...I'll have to go over to the Holborn one and it'll take an extra 15min off my lunch break. Thank you.

Don't moan, organise

24.04.2003 13:34

If people are planning to visit McDonalds on May 1st then it might be an idea to remember the workerist traditions of this day and devote a bit of time to the ongoing struggle for workers organisation in this particularly exploitative workplace. McDonalds Workers Resistance has been running for several years and has proved succesful in grabbing the attention of the young workforce, most obviously during our international mobilisation on October 16th 2002:

Why not let the workers know about the website at:

Leave then!

24.04.2003 14:21

Just leave and get a job somewhere else. If you can't, you should be grateful that someone is willing to employ you if you're that hopeless.

Paints + Banners

25.04.2003 15:14

One of the best McD actions I've seen was when about 20 people shut down a branch for the day by just holding banners across the door saying it was closed, asking everyone inside to eat up and get out, and painting all of the windows with pictures and slogans - ace. no riot though.

shut it down!
