Despite the media bias emphasizing that protest levels are shrinking, the turnout last weekend (April 12-13) was over 1.5 million for peace, a 400% INCREASE over the previous weekend's 300,000. The largest events were in Rome, 500,000; Barcelona, 300,000; Madrid, 200,000; London, 200,000; Cochi, India, 80,000; Dhaka, 50,000; and Washington, D.C., 30,000.

Turnout for global peace demonstrations remains strong. Below are figures for the past two weekends (April 5-6 and April 12-13). If you can supplement this listing with additional data (including URL's, if available), please post your information to:  http://www.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=313299&group=webcast

In addition, at least 1.6 million participated in general strikes for peace in Italy (April 2, about one million) and Spain (April 10, at least 650,000).

This past week the largest protests have been in Iraq itself, with some 20,000 demonstrating in Nasiriyah on April 15, and about 200,000 across the country yesterday (April 18), including 50,000 in Sadr City; 30,000 in Nasiriyah; and 20,000 in Baghdad.
