A Social Forum for Manchester!

anarchist | 16.04.2003 16:45

Out of the peace movement in Manchester emerges the social forum/people's assembly. This will be a networking forum that allows the social movements in Manchester to stay in touch and work together.

Manchester People's Assembly, 7th June. Not just another meeting!

The social forum movement has spread across the world since the first World Social Forum in Brasil, 2001. They are a call for real demoracy, and a tool to help us campaign against the present unjust system.

The European Social Forum in Florence was organized under the slogans of no to privatization, no to war and for the free movement of peoples across Europe. We want to develop our own themes for manchester, too. What issues are important to you?

Manchester social forum/peoples assembly is being organized by a group of people who have come together though the Stop the War Coalition. We include anarchists, socialists, peace and green activists plus people with no labels at all!

We want this assembly/forum in June to be an expression of unity across Manchester -- come and help; this event will be whatever we make it. We welcome people who want to offer/suggest workshops, meetings or any other event that can make the assembly more successful.

Organizing meetings are every wednesday, 7pm at 272 Dickinson Rd, Rushholme. All welcome.
