FIGHT STALINIST CENSORSHIP ON SF-INDYMEDIA

Dorothy (re-posted) | 12.04.2003 22:45

On sf-imc site, free speech is not welcome.
It does matter what you want to say but you have a right to say it.

Many have noticed that SF-indymedia is different from all other indy sites.

On sf-imc site, free speech is not welcome.

Many posts are simply disappearing (not even going to the "hidden" section).
Everything that does not fit the party line gets deleted.

I am outraged by this. Indy tradition have came out the censorship applied against our movment by the
main stream media and now SF indy behave the same.

Let's be clear: If there is a Nazi post calling for killing of jews or if there is a posts calling for killing of arabs - those should not be allowed.

If there is a post that call on destroying a complete country - be it Iraq or Israel - those should not be allowed.

But sheding light on an event, posting an opinion about events in a way that is NOT incitment for murder - all thos should be protected by free speech - especialy on SF INDY.

Most likely they will not want you to know about my views so this post will soon disapear. Copy it and re-post if you agree with me on free speech.
It does matter what you want to say but you have a right to say it.

Free media

Free media related issues could be raised on the newswire and just about everything should be allowed as comments everywhere. I mean just about anything except content that will get IMC into trouble even with their disclaimer.

Why censor Arabs and Jews related posts/comments/rants/insults?
Are they both some special shit?

Another thing is that it is common that people posting articles will be at different wavelengths and things could easily be misinterpreted.
But is it not very important for the moderators who eventually end up censoring the content to be a bit thoughtful?

eg: Racism is somthing I have been accused of but I do not agree to the shortsightedness/selfishness of the rants accusing me of being a racist. I hold the view that I am expressing constructive criticism on sad states of current world affairs and I sometimes feel very bad when censored.
The whole poitn might be beyond the 'censor' but most probably would have been posted in the hope that someone else will see the point.

I do not care what the SF people do although I wish for free media in SF and everywhere.
This comment is not for SF-IMC but instead for this UK one.
