Journalists with generals safely embedded, Any naysayers to be beheaded.

POETRY

Liberté et Verité

Long Live France !

Open debate, a worthy trait,

Being quite scarce of late,

Our old friends in France ,

Looked askance at our advance,

Opposing our expanse.

(C'est illegale;c'est immorale!)

One man, one voice, responded in a lick,

How dare they challenge our edict?

French wine in the streets began to flow,

The way the truth has come to go,

Right down the drain, without any thinking,

Without even a trickle to world opinion linking.

So on we march, with blinders on,

The pipers say we can do no wrong;

Journalists with generals safely embedded,

Any naysayers to be beheaded.

Our leaders conquer as they sleep,

Dreaming of countless docile sheep,

Their own position, not at all perilous,

All combat experience being vicarious.

And on we roll

Engines full throttle,

Now that the genie's

Been let out of the bottle.

As for the French, our newest enemy,

Let's send back The Statue of Liberty -

Certainly no longer a priority,

And a clear threat to homeland security!
