One person was killed on Tuesday morning when a US missile hit the office of the Al Jazeera television network in Baghdad.
The Qatar-based channel identified the deceased as one of its correspondents.
The office is located near the Iraqi information ministry building, which is near one of the presidential palaces.
President Saddam Hussein's palaces have been the target of US planes. On Monday, US ground troops claimed to have seized President Hussein's main palace.
Another important target, the planning ministry building, also lies close to the Al Jazeera office.

For those who don't know this, the Al-Jazeera office in Afghanistan was also bombed by the US during the overthrow of the Taliban.
Before the current war started, however, Al-Jazeera actually provided the US with exact details of the location of their Baghdad office, so (they imaagined) preventing a repeat. Draw your own conclusions.
