Here there are some photos of the anti-war march to the US embassy in London, Saturday 5th April. Around 1,500 people marched from the BBC's central London headquarters to Grossvenor Sq where the US embassy is situated. The march started with high spirits and determination, but it quickly became one of the most controlled and contrived demonstrations I have ever witnessed; as the march progressed the police cordons became tighter, to the point of making the whole situation a sad parody of itself. As it is increasingly the norm in this sort of events, the Stop The War Coalition treated everyone with a long list of speeches at the end, none of which, of course, had any reference to civil disobedience and direct action.
