New Poll shows support for Blair is falling

The BBC reported a new poll by Yougov polling agency, as showing that 68% of British peple thought Blair's handling of the Iraq war had been good, against 28% who thought it was poor. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2917763.stm)
Read the full results of the poll, and a different picture emerges. Support for military action has dropped 4% during the last week, from a high point of 59%, Blair's handling of the Iraq crisis as a whole is supported by 55% to 44% who think it has been poor. Asked how satisfied they are with Blair as Prime Minister, and the mnajority are dis-satisfied, and more people now distrust Blair than they Trust him.

Its interesting to read which figures the BBC picks out for its article, and they way they are presented. The anti-war protests are having an effect in spite of the the media blackout on anti-war stories

But another interesting question is why haven't I been asked to do one of these Iraq polls? before the war i used to get email requests from YouGov every single week. now i get nothing.

good question

Thats a good question. Perhaps its because no poll results are better than no poll results. After all, it costs a lot of money to commission a poll, and if the leaders/majoritity of the rich want to avoid bad publicity, they simply don't pay for polls.

And if they do decide to pay for polls, then they ask questions that are likely to support them.

For example, asked about Blair's handling of the war, I would say yes, he has handled it as well as could be expected. What is there for him to do anyway? He just ignores everyone, and spouts some bullshit mantra. That's all that people can expect of him - I don't expect the guy to put a uniform on and join the troops for the storming of Baghdad...But that doesn't mean that I support him or his war in any way; quite the opposite, I'd like to throttle the man for being such an arrogant christian moralist murderer. And is anyone getting really pissed off with Geoff Goon? What an annoying piece of shit.

I wouldn't worry about polls too much anyway. Lots of people don't follow the news or form their own opinions. We need to stick to our convictions, and all we can do is try and help others form theirs.
