Flying other flag at Lyneham - replicate it?

Tony Hillier | 04.04.2003 08:56

"A small but determined protest stood at RAF Lyneham Gates" was how BBC TV Points West News described us at 10.30 pm last night. A late call took my daughter and I speeding to Lyneham mobile phoning all the way.

(Having carefuly removed the hammer and gas bottle from my car as a precaution against arrest)

Beth parcel-taped to torn up boxes our last two "not in my name" posters as sped through traffic. We felt dare I say "smug" that Swindon's bright yellow STWC banner was on the back seat too. That banner showed up well on tele later as did our stern words on Radio Swindon by 5pm that day.

Rather than antagonise the military wives and children as they later left from Blair's chat we left as peacefully as we had come. Job done.

Pop up protests could be of value at all cabinet and MPs' public appointments if we can access their diaries and mobilise creative, peaceful, yet assertive responses.

for peace

Tony
