Mayday Football Tournament 2003

This years Mayday Football Tournament will be taking place on sunday May 4th, Clissold Park, Stoke Newington, London N16. Once again we are creating an autonomous social space in the park to include a 7-a-side football tournament, mass proletariat kickabout, 3 sided game (!!), kids game and Mayday Picnic. I agree it's been fun other years, but why are we doing the same things we always do when there's an international oppositonal movement changing the playing field?! I reckon this should be saved for another less 'hot'day than mayday. There is a lot of anger out there and people up for coming together for real actions, may day could give a focus (one day amongst many)for that. We don't want to dissipate it into 'the usual'

What do you mean by your sarcastic "That'll stop the war!" comment? What exactly are you trying to say? What International oppositional movement are you crowing on about..the SWP? You sound like a typical tired old lefty. What better way to spend Mayday Sunday than being out of the stinking workplace and in the glorious sunshine in the park with friends and comrades, mates, family and lovers playing the beautiful game, sharing a picnic. For fucks sake, lighten up.

The tournoment is an important part of the spectical that is mayday. Without it the Mayday festival won't be as much of a success. It can still be, and will be more important then ever, football included.

What are you doing for Mayday....reading some dusty old essays in the shadows of Bookmarks? What better a way to spend Mayday SUNDAY than in the park, away from the stinking grey workplace, in the glorious sunshine with your mates and comrades, friends, family, neighbours and lovers, playing the beautiful game, having a laugh, celebrating life, sharing a picnic.
