Hi,
On 31st March 2003, I was in Parliament Square amongst those who are staying there to promote Peace and protest against the war on Iraq, and I met Buddha Nara, who has asked me to send information on this website about her Pilgrimage for World Peace, through London in April 2003. There is a Peace Pagoda in Battersea Park and there is also to be one built in Lancashire.

There is text and images included.
Here is the typed out text:

Prayer Pilgrimage for World Peace London U.K. April 2003
"Blessed are the Peace Makers for they shall inherit the Earth"- Jesus

Dear Friends

I believe in the virtues of truth, justice and decency, in compassion non-violence and peace. I do not believe in hatred, greed, violence and war; for this reason I have vowed to walk through the streets of London, beating a drum and chanting the mantra "NA MU MYO HO RENGE KYO", praying this madness of the current war is brought swiftly to a close and that we as Human Beings will be brought closer to achieving a world of non-violence, harmony and Love.

In every war it is the People between the two sides of the conflict who suffer and it is our governments, who are responsible for sending out our armies of young People to die for what?

Think about it, pray about it, meditate about it and

SAY NO TO WAR, SAY YES TO PEACE

Yours truly in the Dharma of Shakayumani The Buddha Nara

Here is information about the Peace Pagodas:

A MESSAGE FROM THE MOST REV. TREVOR HUDDLESTON, CRDD, CHAIRMAN OF THE FRIENDS OF THE LONDON PEACE PAGODA

For peace to have any reality there must first of all be recognition that it is beyond the capability of human scientific or technological skills. For peace to be a reality the divisions which threaten to destroy our world and which are based on fear, prejudice, greed and false nationalism must be superseded by a global vision for the future of humanity. For it is to be realised that evils such as racism, the unjust division of the world's resources between the affluent and the hungry and the vast expenditure on nuclear weapons must also be superseded. But none of this can happen as the result of human effort, however noble, unless it is linked with an understanding of a supernatural purpose and goal for humanity.

It is all these issues which come together in the symbol of the Peace Pagoda and it is its interfaith dimension, the coming together for prayer of world religions which makes it unique in our land.
