This is the modern-day story of a native peoples' remarkable victory over Western Colonial power. A Pacific island rose up in arms against giant mining corporation Rio Tinto Zinc (RTZ) - and won despite a military occupation and blockade. When RTZ decided to step up production at the Panguna Mine on the island of Bougainville, they got more than they bargained for. The island's people had enough of seeing their environment ruined and being treated as pawns by RTZ.

24.04. Citizen Fish
Formed in 1989, Citizen Fish were arguably the first Punk/ Ska band. To alleviate the general boredom of touring bass-guitarist Jasper Pattiso started filming 'things that happened' right from the beginning. Gaffer Tape concentrates on the people and life rather than the music taking the viewer a entertaining journey to the centre of Punk/Ska.

Easily the best films ever made about working class life in scotland, should be good with kelman who is a big fan of the work.

3. Film at Filmhouse and Glasgow Film Theatre
Upcoming Indymedia events at the GFT and Filmhouse:
Carlo Guiliani- Ragazzo
2002 / 64 mins / Subtitles / cert tbc, Francesca Comencini, Documentary

An outstanding documentary that recreates the last hours in the life of Carlo Giuliani, the 23-year-old demonstrator who was shot dead by Italian police in the midst of the anti-capitalist riots in Genoa in Jul 2001.
Narrated by Haidi, Carlo's mother and interspersing interviews with archival news footage and photographs, the film calls into question official explanations of the circumstances that led to Carlo's death and the results of the Government enquiry.
Provocative and very powerful, Carlo Giuliani, A Boy is a documentary that demands to be seen.
