Iraq may have hidden weapons in Syria: Israel
One of Israel's top intelligence officials says Iraqi chemical and biological agents and long-range missiles may have been hidden in Syria.
Brigadier-General Yossi Kupperwasser has made the claim while giving evidence to the Parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee.
The bastards mean it!
The Brigadier told the committee this might be one explanation as to why the allied forces scouring suspected weapons sites in western Iraq, had found nothing so far.
He says the military intelligence assessment was that the likelihood of an attack on Israel remained low.
However, this could change in a very short space of time if coalition troops found weapons of mass destruction or carried out a significant attack on the Iraqi leadership.
Brigadier Kuppervasser says equipment transferred from Iraq to Syria at the end of last year appeared to be earmarked for the Hezbollah in Lebanon, to be used in opening a northern front against Israel in the event of an American offensive in Iraq.
At the time, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suggested Iraq might be using Syria to hide its weapons of mass destruction.
