Hmm, they're working again...Indymedia does seem to struggle with big events like this.

Indymedia _is_ struggling

Hi Richard

Yeah the have been loads of problems with web, list and IRC servers in the last couple of weeks due to loads of traffic, overloaded servers... you know the stuff!

But the plan is to more the UK site onto a new code base soon and hopefully this will make things more reliable.

Also there is always room for more techies to help out...

Dear indymedia Manchester

Surely the 2000 strong crowd blocking Oxford Road outside the BBC merited more than a mention on your opening page, as well as a photo.

Yours sincerely

send in the cavalry

there were 5 arrests for public order offences which signals a significant change in police tactics- at the 2 million demo there were no arrests. the police were happy for us to march around oxford street but the second saturday shopping was threatened the strongarm tactics started.
anyone who followed the protest to market street will have been shocked by the mounted police charges on the arndale entrances and the subsequent penning-in of peace protestors in Picadilly Gardens, but also encouraged by the way the march was joined by so many shoppers along market street.
