Thai Garden 'Support Our Troops' TV rally targeted

rikki | 30.03.2003 21:13

This evening a London restaurant near the Imperial Museum was targeted by members of the Rhythms of Resistance samba band. It was holding an entertainment rally for Forces TV, with politicians, military personnel, and minor celebrities.

This 'support our troops' rally was sponsored by Daily Express and OK Magazine. The band met in the pub opposite and a few other anti-war activists were present. Also a few punters in the pub agreed to support the action when they heard what it was about!

The band wore "Support Our Troops - Bring Them Home" banners and caught the organisers completely by surprise at the start of their evening. Photgraphers and film cameras had a field day as we played directly outside the glass front of the restaurant for several minutes before police arrived. At first there were too few of them to move us from the public space, but gradually re-inforcements arrived and after we'd played for maybe twenty minutes, the situation was becoming less viable. At that point we stopped playing and negotiated that a couple of people could carry on leafletting guests as they arrived.

Celebrities included Sue Pollard, Al Murray and Jo Guest, but mostly seemed to comprise Page 3 girls and a wriggle of Spearmint Rhino lapdancers, all selling their asses to help kill Iraqi children.

What had originally been just a four police routine operation suddenly turned into quite a major operation with two riot vans, and some high ranking inspectors. Once again the purveyors of this illegal, unjust and immoral war were made to realise that resistance to it is widespread and can manifest at any time in any place.

Peace

Says it all that the celebs were mostly topless tittilators and lapdancers. Female, presumably? Great for the straight male/dyke troops, but what about the poor, straight females and gay males? Perhaps organise some sexy male singing telegrams to go visit them in Iraq? Nah, I agree, bring ‘em back home, & let Rhythms of Resistance cheer them up

Traitors to their own cause!!!!!!!!

What a blooming joke!!!!!!

The half-baked comedians shouldn't have been in a Thai restaurant, of all place - Thailand and the Thais are massively against the bullying of Iraq.

In fact, Thailand is one of the destinations where the FO warns visitors against going to because of the hostile sentiments against Bush and Poodle.

beautiful women

>...all selling their asses to help kill Iraqi children

I dropped by and saw some beautiful women with fit arses walking in. Very good looking indeed.

But but but Iraqi children? Honestly stop this double standards. All the drummers were wearing meek little notices saying 'BRING OUR TROOPS HOME' ....YOUR TROOPS uh?
Child killing pigs.
When protesting be straight or do nto do stupid things like this.

Singning off with PEACE shows it all.
British protestors are among the pigs of protestors.
Utter bullshit.
You only added onto the atmosphere of phoney democracy as one of the goons at the door to the well organised event pointed out to me.
I got the usual racist looks from the bunch of pigs present and promptly left knowing this to be another truly british event (protestors inclusive)

ram?

what the fuck are you talking about ram? you begin with lerring and lechery, then accuse the peace protestors of having double standards. what evidence is there of double standards? what did they do that was hypocrytical? their banners said "our troops" because they were british citizens, and the troops are british. I doubt they want to be associated with baby killing soldiers, but the fact they they accept responsibility for the actions of "our troops" shows they are more mature and responsible than the cowards who think that just cos they aren't pulling the trigger absolves them of guilt. These activists risked arrest to demonstrate against the war, you turned up leered at some womens arses and left again. Then you log into this website and slag off the people who actually did something to stop the killing. You come across as a very stupid agressive and ignorant person. I guess at least you're anti-war...

the same old piggy double standards

> what evidence is there of double standards?

Well except the recent post about a police charge in Glasgow all piggy anti war protests are held in such a way in this Kingdom of pigs where the police herds the 'protesters' much like sheep.

Then look what the pigguy protestors do.
In poorer areas they put up posters like 'STOP THE SLAUGHTER!' (just visit Peckham in south London) but when facing the suited pigs (and pole dancers) they change the tune to 'OUR TROOPS'

Don't give me or the rest of the planet (except one another country of course) the bullshit about British citizens and shit.

Do you honestly want me to believe that you really want change from the queen and Camila shit. You enjoy this crap.
The outing to the pub and some hippy drumming.
Why the fuck do you think the large foreign population that knows all about the british babaric ways never participates with your piglet protests...because MOST of you are such hippocrits as things stand now.

> you turned up leered at some womens arses and left again.

what?! do you want me to parade to the media cameras to contribute to the false notion of democracy?

> people who actually did something to stop the killing...

well go and do something to stop the slaughter and I will shut up. Otherwise I recomentd you read the Sun, go to the pub, maybe have a smoke and do the usual piggy things but please keep to yourself instead of contributing to FALSE NOTIONS OF ACTION AGAINST THE WAR.

> You come across ....

There you go ... the same old poncey PR game that is characteristic of you pigs.

You cannot stop doing things 'TO COME ACROSS AS.....this or that' .
It is all a PR affair no different to the way the slaughter in Iraq is sold to the braindead pigs... I do not wish to get dragged into this anymore unless something constructive is INITIATED to stop the shit going on out in Iraq.

I would really appreciate if you (Ralph or anyone else) could create an appropriate visible forum to discuss what can realistically be achieved than adding spice to some low grade tabloid bollocks.
